Anne Shawver Stout, 92 of Seymour, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 in Seymour.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., at the Methodist Church in Seymour with Rev. Jay Gage and Rev. Derrell Patterson officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Anne was born September 13, 1930 in Victoria, Texas to James L. and Annie Lamkin Shawver. She grew up on the farm in Megargel where she plowed with a team of mules. This is where she fostered her love for the outdoors. Anne rode her horse into Megargel for piano lessons forming her deep love of music. As a senior at Megargel High School, she heard her first Beethoven Sonata and knew she had to know more about music and her favorite composer. Upon her graduation in 1947 she went to Midwestern State University, majoring in music where she was named the most outstanding music student in her senior year. She moved to Seymour in 1951 and went to work as a music and classroom teacher at Seymour Elementary. She went back to Midwestern for her Master’s of Education and that same year, she married Jack Stout on June 11, 1954 in. The couple had 3 children, Kaven Lowe, Molly Jo and Jack Mark. The family lived on the Stout Ranch until 1966 when they moved to town (Seymour). Anne taught school in Seymour for 37 years, was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she played piano for 67 years and sang in the choir. Anne was an avid reader and a rabid New York Yankee’s fan. She was preceded in death by her parents, James L. and Annie Shawver; her husband, Jack Stout; a son, Kaven Lowe Stout and her beloved collie dog, Sunday.
She is survived by a daughter, Molly and Garry Urbanczyk of Bryson; a son, Mark and Shawn Stout of Seymour; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Miller of Carrollton, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Sarah Ahnefeld, Braden Stout, Tristen Urbanczyk, Mandy Miller and Jalyn Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Seymour Methodist Church.
