Betty Jo (Townsend) Kinnibrugh

Betty Jo Townsend Kinnibrugh, 86, passed away on October 7, 2023, in Vera, Texas.

Born April 23, 1937, in a house near Lueders, Texas, Betty Jo was a graduate of Vera High School. On March 11, 1956, she married Billy Kinnibrugh. They lived and farmed in Gilliland before moving to Vera in 1960. In this house, Moma Jo and Grandy, as they were best known, raised children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

There were rides on tractors, four-wheelers, and car hoods. There were presents that took up the entire living room on Christmas and homemade cakes on birthdays. There were sleepovers, board games, bird-watching sessions, visits on the porch, and lots and lots of delicious meals. Betty Jo loved her family, which was made obvious through her calls, gifts, and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Nora Mae Townsend; husband, Billy Kinnibrugh; a son, Lester Brent Kinnibrugh and a sister, Barbara Holt.

Survivors include a son, Randal Kinnibrugh, and wife Beverly of Vera; a daughter, Rhonda Vaughn, and husband Tim of McKinney; four grandchildren – Kyle Kinnibrugh of Vera; Sarah Hilton and husband Jared of Keller; Bri Thomas and husband Tommy Baze of Austin; and Tanner Thomas and wife Megan LeBlanc of Montgomery, Alabama; four great-grandchildren – Jocelyn, Annabelle, Cooper, and Ryder Hilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 8, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Archer Funeral Home in Seymour. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church on Monday, October 9, at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. David Warren officiating.  Burial will be in the Vera Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Beyond Faith Hospice or a charity of your choice.
