It is with mixed emotions that we announce the passing of Billie Joyce Pierce Edwards (91) in the early morning hours of April 15, 2025, after a battle with Vascular Dementia.
Billie was born November 16, 1933, to Lazarus and Dallas Rainwater Pierce in Bomarton Texas, the youngest of 4 sisters. Billie was the boy that her father always wanted. She loved working the fields and caring for the animals with her father. Farming was in her blood, and she was a cowboy at heart. Billie married the love of her life, Terry Marshall Edwards, on January 15, 1958, in Fredrick, Ok. Together they traveled all over the state of Texas working in construction before returning to the small town of Seymour, TX in the 70’s, the town where they met and fell in love. Billie Edwards was known for her unapologetic, no-nonsense, hot-headed attitude and she was not one to shy away from expressing her views. She was fiercely protective of her husband and her daughter in her younger years. Later in life Billie found solace in the quiet moments at home with her husband, working on their farm until they could no longer work and reflecting on a life well lived with family and love.
Billie is survived by her granddaughter Wendy Kay Shear (husband Ted) and grandson Derak Wayne Kilgo (wife Debbie), great grandson Justin Shear (wife Kelly), great granddaughter’s Lilian Kay and Izabella Jean Kilgo, and great-great granddaughter Addylin Kay Shear. Stepdaughter’s Marsha Stone (husband Ben) and Celinda Edwards.
Billie is preceded in death by her loving husband Terry, her parents, 3 sisters, Opal Pierce, Beatrice Roe and Geneva McMorris, 2 brothers in law, 1 niece and 2 nephews including Captain Jerry Lee Roe- POW-MIA and her beautiful daughter Sandra Kay Kilgo.
Billie’s granddaughter, Wendy, would like to thank Sabrina Rivers for being her sounding board and guidance and for always being there during her joy, tears or angry fits! She was her brightest light always. A big thank you to the wonderful nurses at Healing Hands Hospice Care for always answering her calls at anytime and guiding her through what Dementia does to a loved one. Megan and Kaylee will forever be in her heart for the caring, selfless work they do daily! She would also like to the thank the Seymour Rehabilitation and Nursing Home for loving on her grandmother when she couldn’t be there. Lastly, to Hospice of Wichita Falls for their care and compassion. She is forever grateful.
Graveside services will be held on April 26, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bomarton Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home in Seymour Texas.
The family will gather at 12:00 p.m. following the services, at the Ice House in Seymour for lunch.
