Dickie Dodd

Dickie Dodd, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the age of 68, after a long and hard fought battle with cancer.

Services will be Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Roberts and Darrell Lutteringer officiating. Burial will be in the Bomarton Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Dickie was born May 29, 1949 in Seymour to Harlin and Juana Jean Gleghorn Dodd. He was a 1967 graduate of Seymour High School. He married Brenda Latham on December 19, 1969 in Seymour. The couple were married for 48 years. He worked for GTE, retiring in 1998 after 28 years of service. He then worked as a telephone contractor for another 10 years before completely retiring.

Dickie was ordained as a Deacon in 1989 at Belmore Baptist Church in San Angelo, Texas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seymour and had served as a board member of the Seymour Hospital and the Baylor County Museum.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlin and Juana Jean Dodd and his grandparents, Claude and Josie Dodd and Aubrey and Irene Gleghorn.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Dodd of Seymour; 2 children, Mindy Dodd of Seymour and Keith Dodd and wife, Angie of Weatherford; 3 grandchildren, Garrett Dodd of Watford City, North Dakota, Lindsey Kohl and husband, Johnathan of Bethesda, Maryland and Joel Dodd of Weatherford; 1 great grandchild, Weston Kohl; 1 sister, Mitzi McAndrew and the late Wayne McAndrew of Tye; and 1 brother, Kelly Dodd and wife, Suzanne of Vernon.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Wichita Falls, Baylor County Museum, Calvary Baptist Church, Bomarton Cemetery Association, Seymour Meals on Wheels or the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
