Donnie "Watermelon" Mcmorris

Donnie Lynn “Watermelon” McMorris passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024 in Austin at the age of 75.

Services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Roberts officiating.  Burial will follow in the Bomarton Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Donnie, known by everyone as “Watermelon”, was born on January 27, 1949 in Seymour to Tom and Geneva Pierce McMorris.  He was a graduate of Seymour High School and a veteran of the United States Army.  Donnie worked for the U.S. Postal Service and as a farmer.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Geneva McMorris and his sister, Neva Thorn.

He is survived by his 3 children, Harlan McMorris and wife, Lori of Austin, Stacy Wheaton and husband, Colby of LaVernia and Douglas McMorris of Austin; his grandson, Carsten McMorris of Austin and 4 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.
