Evelina Carlock

Evelina Sturgeon Carlock, 78 of Lubbock, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019 in Lubbock.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the Riverview Cemetery with Rev. Russell Roberts officiating. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Evelina was born August 5, 1941 on the Derr Farm in Baylor County to Cal and Effie Green Sturgeon. She graduated from high school in Globe, Arizona and received and Associates Degree in Science from Vernon Regional Junior College. Evelina married Audrey Carlock on August 21, 1971. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2007. She worked as a CAN in Seymour and as a seamstress at the Russell Newman Factory in Seymour. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Evelina was preceded in death by her parents, Cal and Effie Sturgeon; a step-son, Marty Carlock; 4 sisters, Ethel Sturgeon, Mabel Norwood, Wanda Lewis and Peggy Forootan and 3 brothers, Hollis Sturgeon, Harley Sturgeon and James Sturgeon.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Brenda Lee Town and Debbie and Dennis Hill all of Lubbock; a son, Carl and Shanna Carlock of Seymour; 2 brothers, Wallace Sturgeon of Globe, AZ and Clovis and Judy Sturgeon of Taylor, AZ; 2 sisters, Joyce Roberts of Haslet and Barbara and Carl Parker of Seymour; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the Seymour Meals on Wheels.

Visitation will be from 6:30 until 7:30 Tuesday at the funeral home.
