Gerry Nell Elliott Gamboa was called home to be with our Father in Heaven on Tuesdaay, June 6, 2023.
Gerry was the youngest of six children born to Mae and Edmon Elliott of Bomarton and Seymour, Texas. Gerry was born on June 11, 1945 and raised in Seymour. Her siblings included Neva Jo, Loyd Wayne, Roy Lee, Emma Dean and Marvin Louis Elliott. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Jo and husband Johnny Scott; grandchildren, Katrina and Joshua Scott and her little dog, Precious.
While Lisa Jo was her only natural child, Gerry was a Mother to many. Every niece and nephew, she loved as her own. She loved them, nurtured them, cried with them and by all means, worried about them. Her love for her family was Fierce. The bond between her siblings was like no other. They spoke almost every day over the years. She was Selfless and Extraordinary. Gerry was always Extra Spicy. Her spirit never got OLD. She was always ready for a challenge and never backed down from a fight. Life dealt her some tough cards but she always accepted the challenge and prevailed. She would always say, “It is what it is” and “this too shall pass, maybe like a kidney stone, but this too shall pass.”
Gerry married at the young age of 14 and became a mother one day after her 17th birthday. She worked as a beautician in Seymour for many years. She retired from North Texas State Hospital. She loved her dog, Precious, more than life itself. She enjoyed traveling to California to visit with her brother, Marvin and his family. She was more like a mother and grandmother to her niece, Shirley’s family.
Visitation will be from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Archer Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at the Bomarton Cemetery in Bomarton where she will be laid to rest alongside her parents and siblings. Services are under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
