Rev. Horace Franklin Fobbs, 87 of Lubbock, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 in Seymour.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church.  Burial will be in the Old Seymour Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Horace was born on August 17, 1936 in Marshall, Texas to Joseph and Clara Bell Fobbs.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  Horace married Colester Harris in Chillicothe in 1958.  While living in Chillicothe he worked at the cotton mill in Quanah and Gibsons in Vernon.  He was pastoring a church in Chillicothe and in 1974, began pastoring Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Seymour. The family moved to Seymour in 1975, where he was the pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church until 1978.  Horace was preceded in death by his wife, Colester Fobbs; his son, William Fobbs; grandson, David DeShane Watson; Sisters. Ulacell Hawkins, Minnie Kay Tatum, Bernell Fobbs, Ina Norris, Alice Waugh, and brothers, William Fobbs, Sr. and Joe Fobbs, Jr.

He is survived by a son, John Fobbs of Seymour; 3 daughters, Zelma Lee Robinson of Abilene, Diane and Milton Murray of Lubbock and Wanda and Jessie Moore of Seymour; 23 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
