Jerry Underwood

Jerry Underwood, 76 of Olney passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019 in Olney.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Harvest Christian Fellowship with Rev. Derrell Marion, Rev. Dan Hooper and Pastor John McGee officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Jerry was born January 31, 1942 in Seymour to Dewey and Addie Benham Underwood. He was a 1960 graduate of Seymour High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Midwestern State University. Jerry married Judy Shipman on June 23, 1962 in Seymour. He began his teaching career in Rhineland then taught and coached in Goree for 12 years. He briefly taught in Weinert and Seymour and in Throckmorton for 3 years. Jerry was a bricklayer and was head of the Masonry Construction Crew for Allsups, building about 150 Allsups stores in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. He also owned Pappy's Masonry Construction. Many of the kids he taught and coached worked for him in the summers.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Shipman Underwood of Olney; 2 daughters, Kristi and Tim Exum of Rankin and Teri and Jeff Barrington of Olney; a son, Robert Underwood and Geoff of Burkburnett; 11 Grandchildren, Taylor, Addie, Justin, Audrey, Si, Austin, Madeline, Mason, Mattie, Harrison and Tag; 6 great grandchildren, Brylen, Lilliana, Carter, Haidyn, Aaliyah and Reese and 4 siblings, Elva Lois Barron, Francelle Echols, Martha Townsend and Brady Underwood.
