John Ellis Gray, 83 of Seymour, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 in Seymour.
Services will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., at the First Methodist Church with Rev. Ryan Ford, officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas.
John was born September 12, 1934 in Bomarton to Herbert Elam and Alice Louise Seydler Gray. He owned and operated Gray Equipment Company in Seymour. John married Raelynn Walker on June 16, 1961 in Stuttgart, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on September 20, 2012. He was the Past Worshipful Master of the Seymour Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the Lubbock Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Maskat Temple of Wichita Falls and served on the Seymour City Council and the Seymour Hospital Board of Directors. He was a current Director of the Farmer's National Bank and the Seymour Cemetery Association and a member of the Seymour Appraisal District. John was a longtime member of the Seymour First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his son, Michael Gray of Dallas; a sister, Gilda Ivey and husband, R.E. of Seymour and a sister-in-law, Peggy Gray of Seymour.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the First Methodist Church, the Texas Scottish Rite for Children or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
