Juanice Rowena Cook, 100 of Rising Star, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 in Rising Star.
Services will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 3:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church with Dr. David Warren, officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Juanice was born March 24, 1916 in Baylor County to Gus and Laura Clifton Benham. She attended Ogden and Seymour Schools. She married Robert "Bob" Howard Cook on September 4, 1932 at her parent's home, on the farm, near Seymour. He died May 11, 1981. She was a homemaker and helped her husband with his water well drilling business. Juanice was a Baptist and active in her home church. She was a member of the Rebehah Lodge and the Ladies Auxiliary in Monahans and Seymour. She was preceded in death by 4 children, Robert Edwin Cook, Jimmy Neal Cook, Buddy Cook and Melba Juanice Black; 2 grandchildren, Bruce Cook and Wade Ratliff; 2 great grandchildren, Tiffany Juanice Cook and Cody Barton and 1 step-great granddaughter, Dayna Marie Shreve.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Carolyn Ratliff and husband, Jim of Rising Star and Laura Beth Newberry and husband, Dean of Clovis, N.M.; 2 sisters, Doris Holder and Mary Ann Beach both of Seymour; 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
