Keiko “Kay“ Swindell, of Seymour, TX passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Seymour with Benny Archer officiating. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Kay was born and raised in Yokosuka, Japan where she met the only love of her life, Luther Warren Swindell. They were married and had their first daughter there before moving all over the world including Quam, Alaska and California, where their second daughter was born. When Luther retired from the Navy, the family returned to Seymour where Kay spent the rest of her life.
After losing her husband, she worked many years at the Seymour hospital. She loved flowers and taking in stray pets. Her beloved Bootsie, Ajax, & Cosmo are remembered by all guests as part of the family. She also kept close ties to her Japanese roots in her character and cooking. She was well known for her famous fried rice.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.
Survivors include one brother, Masashi Tokita from Japan, two daughters, Sandy Oxford & Justin, of Coppell, TX and Shirley Penner & husband, Doug of Levelland, TX, four grandchildren, Nikki Brandes & husband Josh, of Wichita, KS, Matt Oxford & wife, McKenna of Phoenix, AZ, Blake Penner & wife Rocio of Levelland, TX and Casey Penner & Scott of Levelland, TX, and six great grandchildren, Nadia aka Ping, Zelda aka Z, Kaleb, Kaitlyn, Kaylee, Kai, Aiden, and one on the way, Rhett.
