Larry Charles Boyd, M.D.

Our beloved Father, Larry Charles Boyd, passed away early Friday morning, February 7th 2025. Larry was born December 2, 1955, in Greensville, North Carolina to Ellen Loraine Starnes and Charles Fuller Boyd. With hard work and dedication Larry lived a distinguished life full of accomplishment. After high school Larry joined the United States Navy in 1975 when he was 20 years old. He became an Airman, flying many missions. Serving his country was the pride of his life and by the time his service was done he was a Commander in the US Navy Reserve Medical Corps. While serving his country he attended college and earned his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in 1991. He completed his residency at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia. He dedicated the rest of his life to healing. Larry helped bring countless new lives into this world and helped extend countless others. Combining his military service and love of flying, Larry was a Senior FAA Aviation Medical Examiner and member of the Commemorative Air Force, Odessa, Texas Wing. Continuing his education Larry earned his MBA from Texas Tech University in 2011. His military service and healing were the pride of his life, flying was his passion, and his family was his joy.

Larry married Sharon Marie Welsh on August 30, 1986. They remained madly in love until Sharon’s passing in 2023. Together they traveled the world and are surely together now. They created a huge family including 8 children and 21 grandchildren. He was the rock to them all and his legacy will live on through them all.

Larry is survived by his mother, Ellen Loraine Starnes of Pinehurst, NC, five sons, Charles Andrew (Chip) Boyd and wife Reagan of Flower Mound, TX, Nicholas John Boyd and wife Courtney of Cross Roads, TX, Joshua Charles Boyd and wife Ratna of Corpus Christi, TX, Patrick Welsh Boyd and Steffany of Bryan, TX, Michael O’Rourke (Rory) Boyd and wife Juliet of San Antonio, TX; three daughters, Lindsay Catherine Jeter and husband Jared of New Braunfels, TX, Mary Margaret (Molly) Silvas and husband Flavio of Borger, TX, Jennifer Christine Eiman and husband Tyson of Frisco, TX; and twenty-one grandchildren, Logan, Hannah, Riley, Callie, Morgan, Audrey, Lilly, Jackson, Ethan, Maddox, Cameron, Rhyder, Carter, Grayson, Benjamin, Declan, Preston, Porter, Raylee, Rory, and Brooklyn: his twin brother Mike Boyd and younger brother John Boyd.

He was preceded by his loving wife, Sharon Marie Boyd.

Mass will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Bose Jujuvarapu officiating under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Pallbearers will be Chip Boyd, Nick Boyd, Josh Boyd, Patrick Boyd, Rory Boyd, Riley Boyd, Jackson Boyd. Honorary Pallbearers will be Flavio Silvas, Jared Jeter, and Tyson Eiman.
