Marjorie "Margie" Katherine Stewart (Teague), age 85, passed away quietly on March 22, 2025, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
She was born March 19, 1940 to Vern and Mary Louise Teague of Seymour, Texas. She graduated from Seymour High School in 1958 and then from North Texas State University with a degree in Elementary Education in 1961, which set her up for a lifelong profession as a second-grade school teacher. She devoted 30 years in education molding young minds with many of her students fondly sharing that "Mrs. Stewart was my favorite teacher." She had a special gift for making every child feel important and loved and was a second mother to many of her students. One of the poignant full-circle moments was when one of her old students became her caregiver near the end at hospice—someone she still considered one of her own. She married Pat Stewart, son of Henry and Vida Lee Stewart, her high school sweetheart, on August 26, 1961 and they were happily married for 64 years. They had three sons while living in Fort Worth, Texas before moving back to Seymour, Texas to be closer to both families. Margie was a religious and committed family woman. She was the church secretary at the Presbyterian Church in Seymour, Texas and played the piano and organ for years until her hearing would no longer allow. Being a member of the Church where her parents attended was a staple in her life and provided her with much comfort and purpose. She was a loving mother and grandmother and cherished every moment she spent with her family. Besides teaching, Margie loved quilting and genealogy. She loved learning about her family's history and passing on the stories about them to the generations yet to come. Her cats were her adopted children in later life, with comfort and companionship being shared. Above all, she was so proud of her family—never hesitating to brag of their accomplishments to anyone who would listen.
She is survived by her sons Robb Stewart and wife Melinda of Seymour, Texas, Matt Stewart and wife Claudia of Frisco, Texas, and Brad Stewart and wife Lynann of Seymour, Texas; and her beloved grandchildren Calleigh and Ethan Stewart, Garrett, McKenna and Claire Stewart, and Tyler and Layni Stewart. She was preceded in death by her husband Pat Stewart and her parents, Vern and Mary Louise Teague. When Pat passed away, Margie wanted to be with him, but still had a short amount of time to spend with her family on Earth.
Margie's legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched—with compassion in the classroom, commitment to family, devotion to God, and love with no end. May her memory be a blessing to everyone who knew her.
The family will gather to celebrate Margie's life on Saturday March 29, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 4:30 PM at Archer Funeral Home. If so inclined any memorials can be made to the following:
