Pat was born September 25, 1928 in Wichita, Kansas to Charlie and Cecil Carpentir. She attended Protection High School and then went on to attend business classes. She later moved to Lubbock where she met and married Edwin Grimm on September 30, 1950. While in Lubbock, she was named Valentine Sweetheart of Beta Sigma Phi at Texas Tech University, while working for an oil company. Pat and Ed had two children and lived in Florida, Illinois and Ohio before making their way back to Texas to live in El Paso. After Ed’s passing, Pat went to work at KHEY radio. Several years later, Pat met Elton Scott and they married on June 10, 1979 in Horizon City, Texas. They moved to Seymour where they farmed, raised horses and Pat worked at Olney Savings, which later became known as AmWest Savings and then First American Bank in Seymour, where she worked for many years until her retirement. Pat was very active in her church at First Baptist and loved her Sunday school class. After Elton’s passing, Pat moved to Lubbock to be closer to her daughter and two years later, she met her friend Bobby Malone, where they would be voted Valentine King and Queen at Ventura Place.
Pat loved her grandkids and was overjoyed with the arrival of twins, due any day. She loved being with her family, her cat, Susie, watching football, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing Soduko and solitaire, getting her hair done and was said to be the best cook around, although she would never admit it.
The night before her passing, Pat attended Casino Night, where she had an amazing time with all of her friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Carpenter; her mother, Cecil Nicholson; her step-father, C.E. “Pickles” Nicholson; husband, Edwin C. Grimm; husband, Elton Scott and two sisters, Cecilia Strout and husband, Ed and Ruth Everett and husband, Jimmy.
Survivors include a son, Scott Grimm; daughter, Lisa Mobbs and husband, Chad; two grandsons, Kyle Booe and wife, Cassie and Keith Booe and wife, Maggie; four great grandchildren, Jaxen, Scarlett, Lennox and Delainey.
The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church of Seymour, Texas or Animal Rescue of Crosby County, P.O. Box 561, Crosbyton, Texas 79322.
