Ray Lynn Moore passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Ray Lynn was born on February 10, 1938 at a Farmhouse one mile west of Red Springs, Texas.
He attended grade school at Red Springs school up to the eighth grade, and transferred to Seymour High School in ninth grade. He graduated in 1956 from Seymour High School, then attended Texas Tech University for two years. He was drafted into the Army and went through Basic Training , and was later called back into service during the Cuban Crisis for around 15 months. After he served he came home to Seymour and began to work for Ed Shrunk Aerial Flying Service until getting a job with GTE in Seymour, Texas.
Ray Lynn married Babara Coffman December 11, 1964 at the First United Methodist Church in Vera, Texas. Ray Lynn then went to work for U.S. Postal Service part time and supplemented this with odd jobs. He worked as a gas station attendant at Cotton Fitzgeralds Service Station which is now the Shamrock/HP Oil, drove a school bus for Seymour High school, and worked construction on the Lake Kemp Reservoir Project. The couple then had their only child, Jon Moore on March 10, 1967. Ray Lynn became a full time employee for the U.S. postal service and served as a mail carrier and clerk until retirement. Ray Lynn received his real estate license in the early 1970s and became a broker. He then opened a real estate business with his wife Barbara Moore, and was very successful throughout his lifetime.
Ray Lynn was in charge of his High School class reunions for over 50 years, and relished in visiting with classmates. He was an avid Bull Riding fan and for many years went with his wife Barbara to the NFR in Oklahoma City yearly for over 30 years.
Ray Lynn always had a love of cars and a dream of owning his own car lot. He started a car lot later in life and could always been seen at the car lot on most days right off the Lubbock Highway. He worked at the car dealership until he was unable to work.
Ray Lynn was preceeded in death by his parents, Henry Franklin Moore (Pen) and Leona Pearl Shoopman (Pearl), his brothers Charles Wayne Moore, Jack Franklin, and sister Wynette Moore.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of almost 60 years. His son, Jon Moore and wife Marchele, and three granddaughters, Nicole Leigh Richardson, Whitley Lyn Moore, and Sydney Leigh Moore.
Ray Lynn was a hard worker. He was generous and kind to his family and was a loving father and grandfather.
Services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., at the Red Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Gage officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Seymour under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
