Royce D. Standlee, 93, of Seymour, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in Vernon with his wife and daughter by his side.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in Seymour, with Rev. Jay Gage officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Royce was born on June 4, 1930 in Vernon to Ed and Ina Jobe Standlee and was a graduate of Weinert High School. He married Erma Fae Walker on June 25, 1950 at the First Methodist Church in Weinert. Royce farmed all his life, while working for John Deere Company and from 1984 until 1994 when his son, James took over, he was the owner of the Feed and Seed Barn in Seymour. He was a member of the First Methodist Church where he served on the Trustee Board. He also served on the Board of the Farmers Co-op. Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Ina Standlee; his son, James Standlee; 2 brothers, J.C. Standlee and Turner Standlee and a nephew, Ed Standlee, III.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Erma Standlee of Seymour; a daughter, Debbie Standlee of Vernon; 3 grandchildren, Chris and Emilia Armstrong of Parker, CO, Clint and Victoria Armstrong of Vernon and Kim Wynne of Arizona and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Seymour First Methodist Church, the Seymour Cemetery Association or the charity of your choice.
