Wichita Falls

Thelbert Dee Blankenship, age 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 15th, 2024.  He passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Archer Funeral Home in Seymour, with a graveside service immediately following in the Masonic Cemetery in Seymour under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Thelbert Dee was born on September 13, 1932 in Wichita Falls to the late Major Goree and Leona (Parker) Blankenship.  Thelbert was raised in Seymour.  He married the love of his life, Peggy Jones on August 13, 1953.  He served two years in the US Army and was stationed in Germany from 1953 until 1955.  In 1957, Thelbert and Peggy moved to Wichita Falls.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Lamar Baptist Church in Wichita Falls.

Thelbert was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Thelma Bailey, Annie Faye Stewart and Linda Blankenship and three brothers, Van Earl Blankenship, Muriel Blankenship and Major Goree Blankenship, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Blankenship of Wichita Falls; his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Pam Blankenship of Wichita Falls; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Blankenship) Hicks and husband, Cody of Burkburnett and Ryan Blankenship and wife, Lindsey of Archer City and three great grandchildren, Colton Lane Hicks of Burkburnett and Lauren Blankenship and Madison Blankenship of Archer City.
